A Day in the National Museum of Fine Arts

Since the National Museum of Fine Arts is currently free of admission, here is a budol post to make sure you visit it! I visited it in April 2019 and how I wish I can come back once more. Maybe I will once I get more time off from my schedule! For now, let me take you to the National Museum of Fine Arts through my eyes! We'll be going through sections, since the museum is pretty big, so you will not get lost on your way. Are you ready? Let's go!

First stop : Level 2 House Floor

Arriving at the museum and after going through security, the great work of Juan Luna, the Spolarium, greets you. I thought the painting is a small one, turns out its majestic! Videos are prohibited but photos are allowed! You cant bring in snacks as well so eat up before going in! It's gonna be a whole day exploring after all!

Reminders!

Make sure you've eaten well before exploring! The museum has 4 levels with lots of galleries in it! Honestly, you'd need a whole day to wander and take all of the beauty in!

South Wing

The interior of the museum is circular-like, my group actually got lost on the first floor since we entered so many connected galleries! We encountered a lot of sculptures in the hallways as well.

Gallary III

Academic and Romantic Art

In 1996, the Spanish government gifted a special copy of the collection to the Philippines, presented by King Juan Carlos I of Spain to President Fidel V. Ramos. The collection now hangs in this gallery.

North Wing

The Northern Wing contains two of my favorite galleries in this floor which is GALLERY XI and GALLERY XII. It contains the work of famous Filipino artists Fernando Amorsolo and Guillermo E. Tolentino.

Actually, what I'm doing in the statue is not allowed, don't do this when you visit! The galleries you'll explore will have funny statues as well, its prohibited to redo those poses too but that didn't stop me! Don't copy my rule-breaking habits though or you might end up in jail.

Lower level, Our Last Stop

The lower level also contains a whole gallery of paintings about Jose Rizal's work - Noli Me Tangere & El Filibusterismo. As you enter, a majestic chandelier greets you. Sadly, we don't have anymore time to explore so this is our last stop. We weren't able to fully explore  but I once I visit again, I'll make sure I get to see and admire everything next time!

Exploring and Wandering Around

As an artist myself, I find peace and enjoyment just by looking and staring at pieces of art. Some people find it boring though, but if you are an enthusiast for beauty and history then I recommend going here! The admission is free and you can roam around as long as you want! Im not joking earlier as well, you'd really need a whole day if you want to explore and admire each hallway and gallery. We weren't able to actually see everything since we only had 4 hours to visit, but those 4 hours felt like forever to me! If you want a great place to spend time with someone I suggest the museum! It's perfect for your barkada or for a date! Well, at least for me, I'd love to have a date here sometime and completely ignore the person I'm with for the paintings.

The whole visit for me is something I'd cherish forever. If only I had more time, I'm sure I'll stay on the galleries and just take it all in once more.
